iPad logic board and liquid damage

An iPad is thin, it is often used on a lap and it falls differently from a phone: it bends. That produces its own list of faults, which have little to do with wear and a lot to do with how it is built.

• The charging port makes no contact, or only charges with the cable at one angle
• It charges but never fills, or goes from full to empty in an hour
• It will not turn on, not even after a long charge
• The image is there but touch has stopped working, or it taps by itself
• After a fall part of the screen stops responding while the glass is intact
• Moisture in the charging port or along the edge

Why a swap hurts more here

On an iPad, as on a MacBook, the storage is soldered to the board and tied to the security chip. If the unit is exchanged, everything that was not in the cloud is gone. For someone who draws or takes notes on their iPad, that is often years of work.

So we work on iPads at component level too: charging chip, touch controller, power rails, corroded traces. The same work, the same tools, a different board.
